Rather it starts a new scope, reusing the name for a new variable unrelated to the previous one. A new assignment to a name does not erase and replace a previous assignment. While one commonly talks of variables, in actually assignments at the worksheet level (:=) are more along the lines of named constants rather than variables.

You need to remember that Mathcad is a document oriented system and that the sheet is static. Rather it seems to be more an issue of the design of the application. But your description of the problem does not indicate such a leak. Mathcad (all versions) has memory management problems, and vcarious memory leaks.

Each instance will have the full 2GB (less OS overhead) of user address space available to it. Instead of opening a second sheet in the existing instance of Mathcad, start a new instance and open the sheet in there. One thing you can do is avoid running two sheets that use a lot of memory. But it does fix a lot of other things (and breaks a few). You should apply the maintence to MC13, although that, too, is unlikely to solve your memory problem. It is very doubtful that upgrading to MC14 would help.

Do you have games on the PC ? That's another catastrophic mistake and you might never be able to zap them as some hooks up to deep into the OS.
Excel not enough memory to save windows#
I have seen peoples plugging their applications on the right of the Windows near the clock, that is a catastrophic mistake. What is a tiny work sheet ? One that has sin(x) plot per say ? and that kills your PC ! Oh ! A 3 MB work sheet takes few seconds to copy to the clipboard, then paste in a new sheet.

After a long day work with plenty of applications open, sometimes 4 ORIGINLAB + Excel +, +. Very rarely I get the message like "wait while Windows is getting more memory", almost never. I run e-machine XP Family SP2, 256 MB RAM. What is virtual memory ? The one Windows get on needs. My machine has 2GB real memory and 4GB virtual memory, so I think there must be a memory leak somewhere. Might help to remove rows and columns beyond the useful data rows/columns.>I run out of memory with a tiny work-sheet when I try to copy and paste an expression into Microsoft Word. I also notice that my save as XLS does say I have columns out past IV (max columns) and beyond 65K rows, but I only see data up to EY and row 9700 (a bit more than that but not 65K) so it might be true but it isn't important data so a file "cleaner" Imply that, but I thought that was because XLS may not be able to handle all the XLSX formatting or newer formulas, and may be true too. I asked someone else here and he said that it's often not a memory issue but often it's a corrupt XLSX file and saving as XLS will remove the corruption (Excel doesn't know what to do with the corruption) and saving as XLS does pop up message that could Note that saving as XLS will only work if you don't have row counts and column counts over the max allowed for XLS. Option - Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) made things much worse.Įxcel would show an all white screen but moving the mouse over where there should have been cells would pop up information like "select an option from the drop down" or "a value from 1 to 5 is required". Unchecking 2013 (2016 for me) - File > Options > Advanced > General > Tick the All data was local in the workbook (no pulling from other sources). Protected mode didn't apply to me as there were no macros in the workbook. Saving as XLS from within Excel did work for me (I could add rows to the 9700+ row XLS sheet), and then save-as XLSX I could still add rows without getting the "There isn't enough memory to complete this action" error. Some of the ther sheets also had rows of similar count too.

I was getting the memory error when trying to insert a new row in a sheet that already had 9700+ rows.

Our users are running 32-bit Windoze 7 Pro with 32-bit Office 2016. StarsNStripes post on 20180514 helped me, but instead of using WPS office I used Excel as other users on this thread or on other sites have posted. When you indicate the solution worked, please specify which of the many posted solutions worked for you!
